Sometimes a track so different from the familiar, tried and tested themes comes along which makes you sit up and listen, and listen again, and again…..

Simplicity in music can sometimes be genius….

Take a bass, overlay it with cool guitar riffs, add some drums, just enough to add some subtle beat to that bass, bring in some tight vocal harmony and top it all off with the moodiest organ. Result, “Sun Go Down”, the coolest tune that builds and builds to leave the listener with sunshine to brighten up the rainiest days. Previously only available on CD, taken from Fat Night’s “Lazy Days” album from 2015.

Nothing simple about this….

If sweet soul ballads are your thing then then flip over for “What Do You Got” for the tightest, sublime harmonies complete with a full orchestral arrangement which from the opening piano chords to the layer of magical strings and haunting horns takes this listener to a beautiful place. We lifted this beautiful track from Fat Night’s “Live For Each Other” album from 2020….it deserves to be heard and cherished on 7” vinyl.

Fat Night is the Indie-Soul outfit of Dan Hanson, Gabe Gundacker, Ted Issen, and Nik Ritchie, and have delighted audiences across North America and Europe for over 10 years, regularly playing to sold out venues in Chicago, New York, and London. In 2019, the band was showcased at Rotterdam’s North Sea Jazz Festival.
