Tommy McGee Come On / To Make You Happy - In Stock Now!

Two deliciously soulful tracks from a largely unsung stalwart of Detroit's underground soul scene. Tommy McGee's first solo and self penned outing "Come On" released in 1971 on the tiny Tosted label, based in Tommy's home town of Great Rapids, Michigan, sadly sold very few copies, and today is a very tough record to find in any condition. Produced by another stalwart of Detroit's music scene, Palmer James, it's a mellow mid-tempo scorcher of a tune, complete with angelic backing vocals. The flipside track "To Make You Happy" was released two years later as the only 45 on the Golden Voice label, also based in Grand Rapids and produced by Palmer James. In similar style and equal in quality to "Come On", it's a gorgeous track and no mistake!
