Buster & Eddie - Can't Be Still / There I Was - Class/Kent - In stock now
£9.75
Los Angeles brothers Tommy (aka Buster) and Eddie Williams sang in many different vocal groups but only had a handful of releases as a duet or as solo artists. ‘Can’t Be Still’ is their best-known track after being belatedly spun at Wigan Casino in the mid-70s. It became a “monster sound” and was subsequently re-pressed from the original record plates to satisfy demand. It is now considered a classic northern oldie from the golden era. The flip ‘There I Was’ is more of an uptempo harmony pop record, than a soul number. Written by Class label owner’s son Googie Rene - he cut it first, three catalogue numbers before this take was issued. Despite its pop sensibility, it has picked up many admirers over the decades and is highly regarded among collectors.
